Pickleball in Nantucket, Massachusetts

Nantucket pickleball is centered at Nantucket Racquet Sports Association near the airport, where eight outdoor courts support a full weekly drop in schedule. The club welcomes guest players even though new memberships are currently closed, making it the island's most dependable place to arrive alone and find a game. Public courts at Jetties Beach provide a second option close to town for players bringing their own group.

Where to Play Pickleball on Nantucket

  • Nantucket Racquet Sports Association, 82 Hinsdale Road, has eight pickleball courts, bathrooms, a sitting area, and a kitchen in its warming hut. All skill drop in play runs six days each week, and advanced players have a separate Monday evening session. Guest open play costs $15 per person with no reservation required. Guests can also reserve a court for up to 90 minutes for $60, with booking available three days ahead. Paddles and balls are available to borrow.
  • Jetties Beach courts, 2 Bathing Beach Road, offer outdoor play close to Nantucket Town and the harbor. The renovated complex includes two dedicated pickleball courts and one shared tennis and pickleball court. This location is most useful for a family or foursome that already has players, while Nantucket Racquet Sports Association is the better choice for organized games.

Getting Started with Pickleball

A brand new player who wants instruction should begin with the Coaches section and arrange a lesson before joining faster drop in games. Nantucket Racquet Sports Association does not currently publish a recurring beginner class, but its all skill sessions offer a practical next step once a player understands serving, scoring, the two bounce rule, and safe court position.

For a low commitment first game, attend an all skill session at Nantucket Racquet Sports Association. The $15 guest fee avoids a membership decision, no reservation is needed, and loaner paddles and balls remove the need to buy equipment before trying the sport. New players should introduce themselves at the rotation and begin with a patient recreational group.

Open Play and Organized Pickleball

Nantucket Racquet Sports Association runs all skill drop in play Monday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday from 2:30 to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Players must be at least 18. Advanced open play runs Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., giving stronger players a session designed for a quicker and more competitive game.

No advance sign up is needed for the drop in schedule. Court reservations use the club's USTA booking system and are a separate option for groups that want guaranteed private court time rather than the open play rotation.

Visiting Nantucket and Looking for a Game?

If you are traveling alone, go directly to an all skill drop in session at Nantucket Racquet Sports Association. Guest play is always welcomed for $15, no reservation is required, and paddles and balls can be borrowed. With sessions on most days of the week, this is the clearest route into a game without knowing local players.

If you already have partners and are staying near downtown, the Jetties Beach courts are the more convenient outdoor option. Bring paddles and balls and plan around summer demand. For Nantucket Racquet Sports Association, allow extra travel time during the busy season and use its online court booking only when your group wants a reserved court instead of drop in play.
